The Voices Listened To
Not everyone will say that you suck. Not everyone will negate your life. Listen to those voices who do neither of these.

Let Yourself Live
Do you know that you show more about the darkness of your own character when you put down others? Do you really believe, that when they hear the cruelty of your words, see the darkness in your heart, that they would truly envy you, truly regret that they are not like you? Do you really believe that they would want to give up the beauty of who they are for the shallow pettiness of what they see? No, they would not. Most would not trade who they truly are for the fleeting outward beauty which will change with time.
Life is about accepting, embracing and celebrating who you are. Don't lose it to darkness.

Do You Really Feel?
How many can not only "look" at a sunset, but "feel" it? How many really let anything touch their souls that deeply and can declare their feelings to others?
How many heard of the tragedy of 9/11 and were able to say more than a casual, "Oh that's too bad", if they had the courage to let themselves feel anything at all? How many can truly look beyond themselves to see both the beauty of this world, but the pain as well? How many laugh and scoff at the pain of others, yet cry when it is their own pain? If your own burn, it is so much different than if someone you do not know burns. How many hear the cries of the child who is beaten every night before they retreat to the realm of their nightmares--choosing the nightmare over the reality that is their life?
We can make the difference. We can choose to cause the joy instead of pain. We can choose to not gain our own pleasure in the pain of others. It takes an unselfish person to do this. Are you that person? Then tell me that you are!!! I challenge you to look at the world that does not just contain you. I look forward to hearing from you!!

The Girl Beyond
She saw in the reflection in the pond, a girl on her way to being a woman. This is what others saw when they looked at her, but then, they did not know that this reflection was just a reflection, a shadow, of a person who was much deeper that what they could see, of who she all too often did not see as well.. This day she was deep in thought, asking herself if what she was seeing showed all of what and who she was. "Who am I then?, she asked herself.
How could anyone know her dreams? How could anyone know of the doubts, the fears? How could anyone know of the pain of feeling that she had to keep to herself the feeling of how it made her feel to hold a kitten, to love the sound of its purr, love to feel its soft fur on her face, most of all how loving this small animal made her feel needed, wanted and loved? How do you share this in a world of others who are too cold to share this or just as afraid?
If you want more of this story, let me know. I have a wealth of this love in my heart and soul to share.
Love,
Val

Who Are You?
Are you truly yourself or do you strive to be what the world thinks you should be? Do you ever ask the question, "who is the world to tell me what I should be"? Do you define yourself by your character or by the clothes you wear, the number and places of piercings or tattoos on your body, the money that you have or not have, the material possessions that you have, the thinking that you are better than another because you do not possess the same fault or faults of another? Ask yourself--aren't they still "faults". We all have them.
What I am going to do with this blog is to share my love of writing. I will take you on journeys. Journeys which will allow you to dream with me, cry with me, get angry with me--but always, always, journeys taken in honesty and always with the sincerity of who I am. I hope that I will never offend, but then I am a realist; I strip the paint away to reveal the truth that lies beneath.. I will share my hope, my pain, my joys, my thoughts on life.
I invite you to join me and share your thoughts as well, even if they oppose my own, for that is true communication--although I will not excuse outright cruelty or abuse--if that is all that you have to express, then I suggest you see a psychiatrist for you have serious problems.
